S&RV Organisational Restructure
In February this year, Squash & Racquetball Victoria (S&RV) delivered a long-term strategic plan focused on developing more players, more programs, and more games.  S&RV engaged with clubs, venues, associations and leagues through a series of discussions sessions and a stakeholder survey.

The insights provided through this process have been valuable in helping the Board refine its priorities and better understand the opportunities and challenges facing S&RV in Victoria as we implement our long-term strategy.  Through this process, the Board also reviewed S&RV's current and future financial positions where it was acknowledged that continuing with the current structure would most likely result in unsustainable losses.

What is changing?
To execute on our strategy, S&RV is currently recruiting a Development Officer charged with the delivery of introductory programs in schools and centres across Melbourne and more broadly across Victoria.  These programs will target a broad demographic of players new to our sports - juniors and adults.  The Development Officer will be planning and running as many introductory programs as can be sustainably filled. Our expectations are for this role to grow and be supported by other staff from our community, exposing new players to the sports in every part of Victoria, every day of the week.

Applications for the Developer Officer position close on Sunday 15 November 2026 and the position description can be located here.

As part of this transition, Dennis Makaling will move into a part-time Operations Manager role focused on supporting the ongoing operations of S&RV.  His working days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Board acknowledges and thanks Dennis for his significant contribution as General Manager. Dennis has played an important role in supporting S&RV, its clubs, venues, competitions and members, and we are pleased that he will continue to contribute to the organisation in this new capacity.

The Board will also be establishing new working subcommittees comprising both members of the Board and members of our broader club, venue, association and player community, with a view to strengthen the relationship between S&RV and its activities and the members which it serves.  At this stage, it is contemplated that there will be four core subcommittees comprising Sponsorships and Grants, Club and Player Relations, Competitions and Events, and Growth and Programs.  This will ensure that the decisions, programs and administration of S&RV remain strongly connected to the people we serve.

If you have any questions or feedback around the above contact arrangements, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at info@squashvic.com.au.

The S&RV Board is excited by the opportunities and greater value the above restructure will bring to our members and our sports through an era of investment into the growth of squash and racquetball across Victoria.
