A bit about Russell...
Played a lot of soccer as a young child in QLD, moving to Vic Russell was introduced to Squash and Martial Arts (Zen Do Kai and Muay Thai). He fluctuated between the two passions until Russell kept re-injuring himself. He then focussed on squash since his late 20’s.
Three words that describe yourself:
Passionate | Motivated | Friendly
What do you love most about squash?
The community feel. It matters little if you are a high level player, average or a beginner, there is a community around you that can and will support you.
Where will we find you playing squash?
Currently with my home club Bendigo, but also playing with Westerfolds-Templestowe in the Club Circuit, as well as most of the squash and racquetball Grand Prix circuit events.
Favourite squash memory?
Playing in the Hopman Cup (teams championship) representing my home club as our junior and spending the weekend at Ciloms Lodge, near Gladstone Park Squash Club, with our team. It was a defining weekend meeting so many players from all over and such a friendly but competitive atmosphere.
Favourite sporting team?
Melbourne Football Club (Demons tragic)
Hobbies or interests outside of work?
I love AFL footy. I also love to brew my own beer, cider and ginger beer. Having just started a small family, this time at home is hard to beat. A passion for construction and building furniture keeps my creative mind active.
Favourite movie of all time?
